Kenrick’s Meats & Catering

Herb Kenrick started the business in 1945 as a rolling meat market that serviced the South St. Louis area with fresh meats. Herb’s recipes are still in use today, known for his famous Landjaeger Sausage, meaning “Land of the Hunter.”

In 1975, Joseph Weinmann purchased Kenrick’s Meats,  which was at the time a small butcher shop located on Gravois Road in the neighborhood of Affton.

Joseph Weinmann, along with butcher Larry Jung, operated the small butcher shop until 1980.  Then Joe moved the store to Weber Rd., bringing with him his brother John to help manage the growing butcher shop.

Shortly after the new store opened in 1980, Joe and John catered a wedding for an employee and thus Kenrick’s Catering was born.

Joe and John have stayed true to their credo, “customer service is what has kept us in business this long and will do so in the future as well,” Joe Weinmann says with a distinguishing smile on his face.

Not only has Kenrick’s kept it’s long tradition of fresh quality meats, but a new family tradition was formed when Joe and John’s sons Tim and Steve joined forces with their fathers to continue growing the company.  They did so in 2004 with a new location three times the size of the previous facility.

If you were to walk in Kenrick’s today, you would find a well-trained staff ready to serve your every need with a wide variety of food products for families of all sizes.

Kenrick’s keeps its small family neighborhood feel with its unique offerings of fresh cuts of meats, freshly prepared entrées, catering services for all occasions and a small carryout kitchen serving lunch and dinner.

Kenrick’s is a  true throwback to an old fashioned butcher shop that has modernized the trade of butchering with changing times.

Connie’s Closet Selected as the Chamber’s Christmas Charity

At our holiday luncheon, we ask for contributions  to an organization that serves Lemay.  This year we selected Connie’s Closet.  Please make a donation (cash or check preferred) if you attend.

Each school in the District has a closet, from which students can take free school supplies.

Also, two graduating seniors receive college scholarships each year.  Connie’s Closet also provides classroom grants to teachers.  They  have donated keyboards to the music department and a pottery wheel to the art department.

Connie’s Closet was established to honor the late Connie Johnson, a long-time volunteer.

John L. Ziegenhein & Sons

At JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS Funeral Homes, our purpose is “loving people & serving them—kindness always.” We use the Golden Rule as our guide as we provide dignified meaningful and affordable funeral and cremation services.

Why do funerals matter? A funeral gives testimony, honors and celebrates the life of someone we love—reminding us that this special life made a difference and touched others’ lives. It allows us to express our grief and provide support to mourners. It allows us to embrace our faith and our beliefs about life and death and offers hope for the living. It helps us acknowledge the reality of death.

How do you want to be remembered? Find peace of mind, personal control and assurance in pricing by creating your own personal reflection of life through your own pre-arranged funeral services.

Please remember your gift of time. “For there is no greater gift we can bestow—one to another—than to give of our time and take time from our lives to serve others and support others in troubled times.” –Roger Richie

Your questions are always welcome. Please contact Lemay Chamber members: Roger Richie (President / Owner) or Frank Heckler (funeral director). Together we have over 80 years of funeral service experience in South St. Louis City and County.
